Orleans Parkrun

Today I joined several other people from the Conqueror Virtual Walk Challenges here in Orleans.

We met for the parkrun and then had coffee at a local Timmies

parkruns are free, weekly, community events all around the world.

parkrun events are 5k and take place on Saturday morning in parks and open spaces.

parkrun is a positive, welcoming and inclusive experience where there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along, whether you walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate.

I was really excited to be notified that I came in 2nd in my age group even though I just walked the route.

Orleans LRT Construction in Infrared

Been a tough month physically with my Autoimmune disease flaring up. I was feeling up to trying a bit of photography and trying to figure out this Infrared photography thing. Using lessons learned from my previous two little outings, I headed to the LRT constructions sights near the IMALAIRD Photography worldwide headquarters. Again, I learned a few things. Hope you enjoy these efforts.

Petrie Island in Infrared

I had a big morning planned for photography at Mer Blue Bog, but there must be storm damage there as the road was closed when I went down to park, So I headed off to Petrie Island instead. I took a pile of photos but as I am still learning only 2 are good enough to share this time.

Infrared Photography – first attempt

I got a couple of Infrared Filters for my camera for Christmas and today I took them out for a very quick session to see what they would produce. Although I like what I got, I need to practice a bit more and find more interesting subject matter to photograph.

Orkney 2020 – Day 13

A little portrait session with our fur Grandbaby Scout, a trip out to Scapa Beach and a trip up Wideford Hill

Orkney 2022 – Day 10

Day 10 of our visit in Orkney. We explored the south islands of Orkney. Also walked as far as my legs could carry me a whopping 13.1 kms. I admit, I pushed it and am paying for it. Very tired legs. We visited several WWII sites and a woodland area.

Orkney 2022 – Day 9

Day 9 of our Orkney visit saw us go to the island of Rousay. I have never been and Brenda hasn’t been in years. Exploring the Chambered Cairns and Brochs was very interesting. The landscape was amazing.

Orkney 2022 – Day 8

Day 8 of our trip to Orkney. Weather was here and too wintery for me to take photos the last couple of days. We did more driving with Kendra and returned the car. My pal from Glasgow has come up and today we took a million photos. We started off the day with a boat tour of Stromness Harbour, Scapa Flow with views of Hoy cliff sides. We had a walk on the historic streets of Stromness. We then went to Skaill beach and back up to the Whale bone in Bursay. We also visited Longaglebe Geo. Tomorrow we are going to the island of Rousey. We have never been to this island before, so kinda excited.

Orkney 2022 – Day 6

Today Kendra, as part of her driving practice, took me out to the Standing Stones of Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar and then back up to my favourite little abandoned croft house in Orphir. We had to dodge showers and snow showers the entire time.
