Puddle Reflections

Well it finally rained last night. I took a little walk around the neighbourhood and noticed there were a lot of puddles around. I love doing reflection photography and I think this series is really nice. I sure got a lot of comments and like on my other social media feeds.

Orleans parkrun

As part of my recovery from my Autoimmune Disease, I was encouraged to walk a bit everyday. My pen pal in Glasgow mentioned the parkrun, a worldwide weekly 5k walk with no set finish time. I started just over 2 years ago and I wasn’t very fast but I completed my very first 5k walk after my fall due to my health issues.

parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning.

parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along. I really suggest you check it out

A friend of mine did his very first parkrun, so I brought my big camera with me and took a few photos to mark the occasion.

A Little Comet Hunting

Went Comet hunting tonight – Captured a beautiful sunset, the Hunter Moon and Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan–Atlas), which last graced our skies during the Neanderthal era. If you miss it, it will likely take another 80,000 years to see it again…

Hopewell Rocks, New Brunswick

We sadly had to leave our good friends in PEI and start our journey back to homebase. We had never been to the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick before, so we took a little side trip to see them and they did not disappoint. We got there at Low tide so we were able to “walk on the ocean floor”. We didnt have enough time to see the rocks with the tide in, but you could see how high the tides are in this location (upwards of 30-50 feet difference in height)

Surprise Trip to the Maritimes

The IMALAIRD Team got fantastic news from the hospital, What news you ask? The Laird no longer has to go for Treatments and will be monitored by blood work for the next while. If all continues as it has been I will be considered to be in remission! Still Immune Compromised, but no longer being eaten alive by my own body. Fingers crossed.

So with this good news, we took a celebratory road trip to visit with friends in PEI. We stopped in Fredericton New Brunswick on the way down and I was able to participate in the Bill Thorpe 5k parkrun (walk). After that we left and arrived at our friends in PEI later that afternoon.

Strangely enough, I didnt take a whole lot of photos in PEI. We did visit two beaches and went to see the Jersey Boys play at the main Theatre in Charlottetown.

Lake Side Beach, PEI

This is one of my favourite beaches to visit when we are in PEI.

I tried to capture the Milky Way from the back deck of our friends house, but the clouds had other plans.

Greenwich Provincial Park, Mash Boardwalk and Beach

We saw some amazing birds and I captured my very first Bald Eagles in the Park on St. Peter’s Bay

Biplane at the Aviation Museum

Our friends visiting from Scotland arranged to go on the Bi-Plane ride at the Aviation Museum. The plane is a 1939 WACO.. room for 2 in the front and the pilot right behind them. They had a wonderful flight and saw the Ottawa River, Gatineau Hills and twice around downtown Ottawa.

Petrie Island Sights

A local gem in Orleans is Petrie Island and it’s Beach. The Island hosts a lot of wildlife and you never know what you will see in the sky.

GuessWhere Trip – Perth, Westport and Jones Falls

My wife had received a gift of a Guesswhere Trip from her former co-workers when she retired (to join the Imalaird Team full time), We decided to use it while our friends from Scotland were visiting. Not knowing where we were going until we opened the envelopes provided, we ended up travelling to Perth, Westport and Jones Falls, Ontario. A round trip of about 300kms and it took all day. It was a great day out!
